The Hen House a unique building that provides warmth, calm and simplicity. Materials have been carefully chosen to provide a tranquil atmosphere. The Hen House has been designed for low impact both in its energy and water usage. From a state of the art waterless toilet to a super insulated building envelope, it is comfortable whatever the weather. This beautiful building has been recognised nationally and internationally, being awarded the Saltire Medal in 2010 and now being part of the permanent design collection V&A Dundee. Accommodation The house has an open plan living area with wood burning stove. The kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker and induction hob, fridge with mini-freezer, and pully maid airer. The downstairs bedroom has a double bed, with recessed wardrobe. The bathroom has a bath with shower. On the mezzanine level there is a reading space looking over Loch Bracadale with day bed. A large Study space with views over the living area and surrounding landscape. There is fibre broadband and wi-fi to suit all media needs.

locality The Hen House is set within a beautiful landscape overlooking Loch Bracadale on the west of Skye. The MacLeod’s Tables and islands are laid out in a stunning panorama in front of the house. You can choose to sit and observe the weather and changing light or slide back the door and enter the landscape in a few steps. Walks along the Loch are within easy reach. Discover the Birch and Hazel woods, the burns, cliffs and beach close by. Sit a while and slowly become aware of the wildlife in the vicinity. Roe deer, Tawny Owls at dusk, Otters in the early morning, Golden Eagles, Ravens and White tailed Eagles are all nearby. If you want more challenging walks the Cuillin are easily accessible from Glenbrittle or Sligahan some six miles from the door.
